CIL specialises in qualifications development, workplace assessment operations,
and training design and delivery that are linked to competency standards.
Its status as a world leader in this field is reflected in its international
client base.
CIL has undertaken contracts in South Africa, the UK, USA,
Fiji and Australia as well as providing services through its associate
company Bowen-Clewley Associates for ITOs, tertiary institutions, and
government agencies and private industry in New Zealand.
Major projects have included:
- Assisting a range of TEOs to prepare for the post Targeted Review of Qualifications (TRoQ)changes in qualifications
- Review of assessment and moderation processes for a range of ITO and Professional Associations
- Assessment by Professional ConversationT of 35 Maori managers in the Primary Production sector
- A joint venture project with Tai Poutini Polytechnic training and assessing all New Zealand Fire Service trainers against adult education and training qualifications
- Provision of a discussion document on assuring consistency of qualification graduate profile outcomes for NZQA
- Review of the RCC processes for the Plumbing, Gasfitting, Drainlaying and Roofing ITO and Hospitality Standards Institute and subsequent redevelopment of their processes and assessment tools
- Undertaking a scoping report for ETITO on the implementation of the authorisation (licensing) of financial advisers in New Zealand
- Training and assessment of all assessors and moderators for the assessment of National Certificate in Financial Services (Financial Advice) Level 5 - the benchmark qualification for authorisation of financial advisers
- Working with the Fiji Qualifications Council and Higher Education Commission to continue to introduce a competency based qualifications framework and related training and assessment into the vocational sector
- Undertaking a comparative analysis of seven countries' TVET quality management systems for the International Labor Organisation
- Development of a new model of assessment based on professional conversation for assessment of Silver Card (Civil Construction) Health and Safety requirements for experienced practitioners
- Re-conceptualisation of the apprenticeship assessment system for two major ITOs
- Development of an equivalency tool for overseas qualified mining managers for Tai Poutini Polytechnic, Pike River Coal and EXITO. This won an award for innovation from ITPNZ
- Development of assessment and supervision methodologies and tools for the Immigration Advisers Licensing Scheme for the Immigration Advisers Authority
- Development of competency standards and assessment tools for the Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) Scheme for the Department of Building and Housing and training of all LBP Scheme assessors
- Stocktake of Public Health Competencies for the Ministry of Health, through Head Strategic
- Work with Health Department officials in Republic of Ireland and Wales on competency based assessment
- Development and implementation of a RCC assessment process for senior managers using professional conversation for Ingwe Coal Corporation, South Africa and Richmond Ltd, New Zealand
- Development of a new approach in standards design for a federally funded project by Jobs For the Future in Boston, USA
- Working with New Hampshire Department of Education in the United States on a pilot project linking competency based assessment strategies to requirements for college entry
